M&W Messe & Wohndesign GmbH (hereinafter also referred to as ‘we’) collects, uses and stores your personal data in accordance with the provisions of the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the Federal Data Protection Act and the Telemedia Act. Personal data is individual information about the personal or factual circumstances of an identified or identifiable natural person. Below, we inform you about the nature, scope and purpose of the collection and use of personal data.

We take your data protection very seriously and treat your personal data confidentially and in accordance with legal regulations. As new technologies and the constant development of this website may result in changes to this privacy policy, we recommend that you review the privacy policy at regular intervals.

Current status and changes to this privacy policy: This privacy policy is currently valid and was last updated in August 2025. Due to the further development of our website and the services offered on it, or due to changes in legal or regulatory requirements, it may become necessary to amend this privacy policy. You can access and print out the current privacy policy at any time on our website at https://mw-messebau.de/datenschutz.

Data processing and sources

a) Server log files: The provider of the pages automatically collects and stores information in so-called server log files, which your browser automatically transmits to us. These are:

Visits to the website
Time of access
Amount of data sent in bytes
Source/reference from which you accessed the site
Browser used
Operating system used
IP address used

For technical security reasons, in particular to defend against attempts to attack our web server, we store this data for a short period of time. We cannot use this data to identify individual persons. The server log files are stored for a maximum of 7 days and then deleted. If data must be retained for evidentiary reasons, it is excluded from deletion until the incident has been finally clarified.

b) Contact form: If you send us enquiries via the contact form, your details from the enquiry form, including the contact details you provided there, will be stored by us for the purpose of processing the enquiry and in case of follow-up questions. We will not pass on this data without your consent.

This data is processed on the basis of Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR, provided that your enquiry is related to the performance of a contract or is necessary for the implementation of pre-contractual measures. In all other cases, processing is based on our legitimate interest in the effective processing of enquiries addressed to us (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR) or on your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR) if this has been requested; consent can be revoked at any time.

The data you enter in the contact form will remain with us until you request us to delete it, revoke your consent to its storage, or the purpose for data storage no longer applies (e.g. after your enquiry has been processed). Mandatory legal provisions – in particular retention periods – remain unaffected.

c) Enquiries by email, telephone or fax: If you contact us by email, telephone or fax, your enquiry, including all personal data arising from it (name, enquiry), will be stored and processed by us for the purpose of processing your request.

The data you send us via contact requests will remain with us until you request us to delete it, revoke your consent to its storage, or the purpose for data storage no longer applies (e.g. after your request has been processed). Mandatory legal provisions – in particular statutory retention periods – remain unaffected.

c) Handling comments and contributions: If you leave a contribution or comment on this website, your IP address will be stored. This is done on the basis of our legitimate interests within the meaning of Art. 6 (1) lit. f. GDPR and serves to ensure our security as website operators: if your comment violates applicable law, we may be prosecuted, which is why we have an interest in the identity of the author of the comment or post.

d) Direct marketing: Your name and address may also be processed for our own postal marketing purposes for an unlimited period of time on the legal basis of Article 6(1)(f) GDPR, whereby our legitimate interest lies in direct postal marketing for our own services.

Information on the transfer of data to a third country

The data you provide will be stored within the European Union. Furthermore, when using the services of Google, TikTok, LinkedIn and Meta, data may be transferred outside the European Economic Area. This may also affect countries for which the European Commission has not yet issued an adequacy decision on a data protection standard comparable to European law. A list of countries and a copy of the adequacy decisions can be found here: https://ec.europa.eu/info/law/law-topic/data-protection/international-dimension-data-protection/adequacy-decisions_en. It is possible that rights to which you are entitled within the European Union cannot be exercised to the same extent in these third countries. There may also be no data protection supervisory authority there that is responsible for you and to which you can turn.

Is there an automated decision-making process?

We do not use automated decision-making processes pursuant to Article 22 of the GDPR that would have legal effects on you or significantly affect you in a similar manner.

SSL encryption

Our website uses SSL encryption for security reasons and to protect the transmission of confidential content, such as enquiries you send to us as the site operator. You can recognise an encrypted connection by the fact that the address line of the browser changes from ‘http://’ to ‘https://’ and by the lock symbol in your browser line. If SSL encryption is activated, the data you transmit to us cannot be read by third parties.

Collection and processing of personal data

M&W Messe & Wohndesign GmbH collects, uses and discloses your personal data only if this is permitted by law or if you consent to the collection of data. Personal data is any information that serves to identify you and can be traced back to you – for example, your name, email address and telephone number.

You can also visit this website without providing any personal information. However, in order to improve our online offering, we store your access data to this website (without personal reference). The anonymisation of the data means that it is not possible to draw any conclusions about your person. The processing of personal data is based on our legitimate interest in fulfilling our contractually agreed services and optimising our online offering.

Rights of the data subject

In accordance with Art. 15 GDPR, you have the right to request information free of charge about the personal data stored about you and the purpose of data processing. In accordance with Art. 16, 17 and 18 GDPR, you also have the right to have incorrect data corrected and to have your personal data blocked or deleted. Under the conditions specified in Art. 20 GDPR, you are also entitled to receive the personal data concerning you that has been stored in a structured, commonly used and machine-readable format and to transmit this data to another controller without hindrance from us. Furthermore, pursuant to Art. 21(1) GDPR, you have the right to object to the processing of personal data concerning you that is carried out on the basis of Art. 6(1)(e) or (f) GDPR for reasons arising from your particular situation. We will comply with the aforementioned rights insofar as the legal requirements for their assertion are met. Please address any requests regarding your personal data to the email address or postal address provided in the legal notice on our website. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority regarding the processing of data when using our website.

Deletion of data

If the purpose for processing your personal data no longer applies, your personal data processed by us will be routinely deleted or blocked, unless you have consented to the permanent storage of your personal data.

If individual data must be retained after the processing purposes have ceased to apply due to statutory retention periods (e.g. tax and commercial law retention regulations), the data will be blocked instead of deleted. The data to be retained may then be processed exclusively for the aforementioned purposes on the legal basis of Article 6(1)(c) GDPR.

Right of objection

You have the right to object at any time, on grounds relating to your particular situation, to the processing of personal data concerning you which is carried out on the basis of Article 6(1)(e) or (f) of the GDPR.

In this case, we will no longer process your personal data unless we can demonstrate compelling legitimate grounds for the processing which override your interests, rights and freedoms, or the processing serves to assert, exercise or defend legal claims.

If personal data is processed for direct marketing purposes, you have the right to object at any time to the processing of personal data concerning you for such marketing purposes. In this case, we will no longer use your personal data for direct marketing purposes.

You may revoke any data protection consents expressly granted to us at any time with future effect. The revocation shall not affect the lawfulness of the processing carried out on the basis of the consent until revocation.

Use of cookies

Our website uses so-called ‘cookies’ on the basis of Art. 6 para. 1 lit. f GDPR. A ‘cookie’ is a file that stores certain information relating to the device on the user’s access device (PC, tablet, smartphone, etc.). When our website is accessed from the user’s device, our website server receives information from cookies. The server can evaluate the information stored in the cookie in various ways. If you do not want data to be stored in cookies, you can set your browser to inform you when cookies are set and only allow this in individual cases. You can delete cookies that are already on your computer or deactivate cookies at any time. If you generally do not allow us to use cookies, i.e. deactivate them via your browser settings, some functions and pages may not work as expected.

According to the law, we may store cookies on your device if they are strictly necessary for the operation of this site. For all other types of cookies, we require your permission. This site uses different types of cookies. Some cookies are placed by third parties that appear on our pages. You can change or withdraw your consent at any time via the cookie statement on our website.

Google Ads

The website operator uses Google Ads. Google Ads is an online advertising programme from Google Ireland Limited (‘Google’), Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland.

Google Ads enables us to display advertisements in the Google search engine or on third-party websites when the user enters specific search terms in Google (keyword targeting). Furthermore, targeted advertisements can be displayed based on user data available to Google (e.g. location data and interests) (target group targeting). As website operators, we can evaluate this data quantitatively, for example by analysing which search terms led to our advertisements being displayed and how many advertisements led to corresponding clicks.

The use of this service is based on your consent in accordance with Art. 6 (1) (a) GDPR and Section 25 (1) TTDSG. Consent can be revoked at any time.

This website uses the functions of Google Ads Remarketing. The provider is Google Ireland Limited (‘Google’), Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland.

With Google Ads Remarketing, we can assign people who interact with our online offering to specific target groups in order to subsequently display interest-based advertising to them in the Google advertising network (remarketing or retargeting).

Furthermore, the advertising target groups created with Google Ads Remarketing can be linked to Google’s cross-device functions. This allows interest-based, personalised advertising messages, which have been tailored to you based on your previous usage and browsing behaviour on one device (e.g. mobile phone), to also be displayed on another of your devices (e.g. tablet or PC).

If you have a Google account, you can opt out of personalised advertising by clicking on the following link: https://www.google.com/settings/ads/onweb/.

Google-Signale

We use Google Signals. When you visit our website, Google Analytics collects your location, search history, YouTube history, demographic data (visitor data), and other information. This data can be used for personalised advertising with the help of Google Signals. If you have a Google account, Google Signal links the visitor data to your Google account and uses it for personalised advertising messages. YouTube

We integrate functional and content elements from YouTube into our online offering, which are obtained from the provider’s servers. These may include graphics, videos, social media buttons, and posts (hereinafter collectively referred to as ‘content’).

The integration always requires that the provider of this content processes the IP address of the users, as they would not be able to send the content to their browsers without the IP address. The IP address is therefore necessary for the display of this content or these functions. We endeavour to use only content whose respective providers use the IP address solely for the delivery of the content. Third-party providers may also use so-called pixel tags (invisible graphics, also known as ‘web beacons’) for statistical or marketing purposes. The provider responsible for these services for users residing in the European Economic Area (‘EEA’) is LinkedIn Ireland Unlimited Company, Wilton Place, Dublin 2, Ireland (hereinafter: LinkedIn). LinkedIn uses cookies and plugins that are stored on your computer when you visit our website to enable the analysis, design, optimisation and targeted targeting of our advertisements.

The information stored by the cookie may be transferred to a LinkedIn server in the EEA or the USA and stored there. When you visit our website, the plugin establishes a direct connection between your browser and the LinkedIn server. This provides LinkedIn with the information that you have visited our website with your IP address. Please note that, as the provider of the website, we have no knowledge of the content of the data transmitted or how it is used by LinkedIn. If you do not want LinkedIn to be able to associate your visit to our website with your LinkedIn user account, please log out of your LinkedIn user account.

We ask for your consent in advance for this processing via a cookie banner. You give your consent by selecting the ‘Accept’ button in the cookie banner. Your consent is stored in a cookie. You can revoke your consent at any time with future effect by either deleting the cookie in your browser settings or by calling up the cookie banner again via the footer of the website and selecting the ‘Reject’ button. You can also prevent the storage of cookies by adjusting your browser software settings accordingly. However, we would like to point out that in this case you may not be able to use all the functions of this website to their full extent.

UTM-Parameter

This involves analysing sources and user actions based on an extension of web addresses that refer to us with an additional parameter, the ‘UTM’ parameter. For example, a UTM parameter ‘utm_source=plattformMETA &utm_medium=text’ can tell us that a person clicked on the link on the Meta platform within a video. The UTM parameters provide information about the source of the link, the medium used (e.g. social media, website, newsletter), the type of campaign or the content of the campaign (e.g. posting, link, image and video). With the help of this information, we can, for example, check our visibility on the internet or the effectiveness of our campaigns; legal basis: legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
